The course will cover the concepts, principles and practices of project management. The student will learn about the different types of project management tools and techniques, and later will go into the specific requirements for leading and managing engineering projects. The course will outline the principles and techniques of engineering projects from conceptualization, planning, design and construction, and close-out.

The course will examine the project cycle to influence the objectives, quality, cost, and time to achieve the best outcome. Also, the student will learn how to examine a project to determine its viability through technical and financial simulation exercises. Particular attention will also be given to ensure the student to understands the evolution of project management, project leadership, importance of the appropriate selection of tools and techniques to achieve project success, format for work break-down structures, project planning, assessments of schedules and cost distributions, and common challenges in managing different construction contract designs. Case studies and group assignments and presentations are integral to this course.
